Quantish Global Health Group / U.S. health policy

An American approach to universal healthcare.

Tax-funded national coverage, careful hospital ownership design and a credible transition require more than a slogan.

A Beveridge-inspired proposal developed for the United States

Quantish Global Health Group is researching a national healthcare model rooted in broad tax financing and universal access, with a significant role for public service delivery. Our proposal also examines the possibility of public acquisition of hospitals, alongside models in which private and nonprofit hospitals continue providing care under a national financing system.

Those are separate policy choices. Government financing does not automatically require every facility to be government-owned, and ownership reform must be evaluated for cost, access, workforce and quality.

The baseline behind the debate

$5.3TNational health spending in 2024 (CMS)
18.0%Share of U.S. GDP in 2024 (CMS)
5,121Community hospitals, FY 2024 (AHA)

These are dated baseline statistics, not projected savings. The OECD's 2025 U.S. review documents high U.S. spending relative to peers alongside mixed health outcomes and access indicators.
